Not sure which one you need?
Most people are not, and that is fine. The honest starting point for almost every foundation question in this city is the same: get the floor measured and get the drainage looked at. An elevation survey tells you how much the house has actually moved and in what shape, and a walk around the perimeter after a hard rain tells you where the water is going. Those two things together resolve a surprising share of calls without anyone driving a pier.
If the numbers do show real movement, the survey is also what tells an engineer which repair approach fits. Starting anywhere else is guessing.
