Where we take foundation requests

Lubbock and fourteen surrounding towns across six South Plains counties. The ground is not the same in all of them, and neither is the right advice.

The region is not uniform

It is tempting to treat everything within an hour of Lubbock as one market. It is not. Head west toward Levelland and Brownfield and the soils get sandier, which means less swelling and more washout. Head north toward Abernathy and Plainview and the clay fraction climbs, which means the opposite. Go east to Ransom Canyon and Buffalo Springs and you leave flat ground entirely for canyon slopes. Drop southeast to Post and you go off the Caprock Escarpment altogether onto Permian redbeds, where the Ogallala caliche that defines Lubbock ground is simply not there.
